Doctorate Degree Programs - Subjects and Admissions:

The University of Bedfordshire offers a number of Doctorate Degree Programs. These degrees are available in a number of fields including, but not limited to, Biomedicine, Human Computer Interaction, Social Work, Computer Services and Bioenvironmental Sciences. Professional Doctorate programs are also available, in Youth Justice, Business Administration and Systemic Practice. Applicants to the Doctorate Degree Program should have the equivalent of a good honors degree or 2:1 in the UK. That approximates 3.7 GPA or Magna Cum Laude in most US universities. However it is also important to point out that in some research degree programs Masters degree (in relevant area) will get preference.

Doctorate Degree Programs - Duration and Process:

The current available research programs are practice-based research degrees which involve the student in an independent study of their field of interest while supported by one or more supervisors. A normal PhD process can take 3 to 5 years as a complete research study. Part-time PhD study will take much longer than a full-time research program. With low numbers of students the University ensures that under these fully supervised research degrees students will get plenty of one on one interaction with their mentors. The University works closely with employers and industry to ensure that their Doctorate Degree Program is relevant and applicable in the real world. The school also hosts a Student Support Group that serves as a forum for discussion of the issues relevant to its’ students.

Doctorate Degree Programs - Financial Assistance:

There is one Overseas Research Student Award Scheme, and students who have been accepted into the Doctorate Degree program may apply for the award, otherwise foreign students are expected to pay their full fees.
