Founded in 1858 as the School of Art, Anglia Ruskin University has become a well known and much respected institution of higher learning. Earlier known as Anglia Polytechnic University, the University has added a Polytechnic department, and Arts and Technology school and a number of other programs over the years. It adopted the current name “Anglia Ruskin” in 2005.

Doctorate Degree Programs - Subjects and Admissions:

Anglia Ruskin University offers a number of Doctorate Degree Programs. Traditional Doctorates are awarded in Education, Business Administration, Computing, Engineering, Arts, English Literature and Health, European Studies, History, Music (and Performing Arts), Law as well as other fields. You should expect to have a Bachelors degree with a GPA of between 3.7 and 3.85, as a minimum for acceptance. However it is important to point out that admission requirement for some subjects can be a Masters degree in the related field. If English is not their first language, international students must need to submit their recent IELTS or TOFEL results.

Doctorate Degree Programs - Duration and Process:

If accepted into a Doctorate Degree Program each candidate will be supervised by a team of mentors (one main supervisor along with second supervisor and an advisor). Students are expected to complete their studies in 3-4 years if attending full time and take up to 6 years if studying part time. Apart from a traditional PhD route, candidates with a history of published work can request permission to submit a thesis for examination under PhD by Published work. Last part of traditional PhD and PhD by Published work will be completed with a thesis submission and final defense. Anglia Ruskin also offers Professional Doctorates in Business Administration, Education, Health, Built Environment and Practical Theology.

Doctorate Degree Programs - Financial Assistance:

All students accepted into the Doctorate Degree Programs will automatically be considered for merit based scholarships. Additionally there may be some sports based scholarships or funds set aside for foreign students that can help defray your costs. Discounts are also offered to those students who pay full fees early. It is important to point out that various PhD degree programs offers PhD studentships including fee waiver to full bursaries for living.
